Pause for Remembrance

When driving down to Canberra, I often like to pause at Rose Lagoon.  It’s a pleasant spot.  It would be even more pleasant if the highway were further away.

Traffic noise is different in the countryside and can be very annoying. That is a pretty little spot.

Lovely. I must have driven past eyes wide shut; never been aware of it and only focused on Lake George and those handsome wind turbines.

Also known as Rowe’s Lagoon. You see it on the left, from memory just after you go over the rather underwhelming great dividing range. Sometimes there is water in it but not recently (a bit like most of Lake George). The militarily-themed rest area is named for one Edmonson. Actually, looking at the map it seems there may be a few other such lagoons around here, some of them a bit further from the road.
